Education
Krzysztof Kanton received his Master’s degree (1997) in law at Warsaw University School of Law. Mr. Kanton is a Polish qualified lawyer (radca prawny), a member of the Warsaw Association of Legal Advisers.
Achievements
Mr. Kanton joined SK&S in 1997. For the last couple of years he has been co-heading the Antitrust and Competition Law Department of SK&S and became partner in 2008.
He has represented Clients in numerous proceedings, including high-profile cartel investigations, before the Polish Competition Authority and the Competition and Appellate Courts. Following the introduction of the leniency system in Poland, Mr. Kanton was in charge of preparation of a number of applications for immunity from fines. He was involved in a number of merger control proceedings before the Polish Competition Authority, including consolidations on borderline of permissible market dominance.
Mr. Kanton’s practice also covers general competition law advice, in particular, in the field of distribution agreements. He advised Clients in connection with the introduction to Poland of the block exemption regulations applicable to vertical agreements and to the motor vehicle sector. He regularly conducts competition compliance training sessions for the Clients of SK&S.
Mr. Kanton is the co-author of the 2003 Guidelines of the Polish Competition Authority on Merger Control Regulations. He was referred to as the “Recommended Lawyer” in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 editions of the Practical Law Company/Global Counsel 3000 international ranking.
Mr. Kanton also advises Clients of SK&S in connection with regulatory issues in the field of environmental and energy law. He was involved in numerous environmental compliance audits undertaken in connection with M&A transactions.
Mr. Krzysztof Kanton is a member of the Energy Law Group, an association of lawyers from over 20 independent law firms in Europe who specialize in energy law issues.
