On 17–18 June, the 22nd Annual International Bar Association Anti-Corruption Conference, “The Role of the Global Financial System in the Fight Against Corruption”, took place in London.
Tomasz Konopka participated as a speaker in the panel “Private equity, hedge funds, crypto and the shadow banking challenge”. The session focused on the role of private capital flows, complex investment structures and new financial technologies in the global anti-corruption landscape, particularly in the context of transparency, regulatory oversight and enforcement.
The discussion addressed corruption-related laundering risks in the shadow banking system, the fragmented regulatory landscape across jurisdictions, challenges related to tracing crypto transactions across borders, and the question of whether principles-based regulation can keep pace with technological innovation.
The session was chaired by Eric Mayer of GSK Stockmann and the speakers included Stéphane de Navacelle of Navacelle, Alison Howell of Ericsson, and Puneet Kakkar of Nardello & Co.
